FROM YOUR PRESIDENT:
2010 is moving toward summer and show season with great speed.
January went by very quickly. We attended the Portland AG Show
in late January. Chapter 30 had 8 tractors, a T6 Orchard
crawler and a nice TO 35 Ferguson. Ken and Vickie Robison and
Needra and I had our travel trailers on the grounds and it was
just a short ways to the exhibit halls. Also Ken and Anna
Woodard and Leroy Staudenmier were there helping at our table.
There were many other groups present. John Deere, Cat, the
logging museum, model railroads, car club, Branch 15 and the
National Guard with their older military vehicles were all
there. The weather was nice for the end of January. That's one
thing that might make it difficult to attend. The weather can
be terrible that time of year.
IH is the featured tractor at the Brooks Steam Up this year. We
can have 30 tractors, crawlers and trucks out in the area in
front of the bleachers. I would like to see a variety of IH in
this site from F Series through the number series with some
crawlers, cub cadets, trucks and scouts. I am hoping for a
large turn out from Chapter 30 members and the rest of the
pieces will be in our regular area back by the truck museum and
across from John Deere. Remember, IH made a large variety of
items. We can use anything you might have to exhibit.
.
Dry camping at Brooks is $12.00 a night. The contact person is
Colleen and her telephone number is 360 852-6910.
Ken Woodard and I attended a meeting at Brooks on Sunday, Feb.
14. It was the first
From the President (cont.)
meeting regarding the 2010 show. There was a request for our
logo and some pictures to be used on the advertising poster and
hand outs for the 2010 show. Just how that will be used hasn't
been decided yet.
Our annual meeting will be the 20th of March and let's see if we
can have a majority of our members attend. The club will
provide fried chicken and drinks. Please bring potluck dishes
to go with this. I am sure everyone will enjoy themselves. We
will also be having a silent auction at our meeting. Please
bring you surplus items so we can find them a new home and make
a little money for the Chapter.
Larry Severance
President

2010 is starting to look like an exciting year! Things are looking up! First I need to recognize some new members:
Alex Freadman from Winston, OR

Looking forward, the date for the Annual Meeting has been set as MARCH 20th. The meeting will be held at Alan Schurman’s Iron Ranch near Ridgefield, Washington
Directions to the Iron Ranch:
Directions if coming from the North on I-5:
Take Exit 14 off of I-5 and turn left (Going across-over I-5) for about 1 mile to a stop sign. (Note that this road will jog to the right and then back left. At the stop sign turn right onto 10th Ave and go 1.6 miles to the Schurman's Iron Ranch on the right side of 10th Ave.
Directions if coming from the South on I-5:
Take Exit 9 off of I-5. At signal light, continue straight through as you'll be on 10th Ave. You will come to another signal light, continue on through that light for about 1/2 mile and then Schurman's Iron Ranch will be on your left side.
We will have a sign posted at the driveway where you should turn in and head toward the parking area.

As usual we will have a silent auction fund raiser for the Chapter. If you have something you want to sell, bring it with you. The silent auction is a fund raiser for the Chapter. The Chapter will charge a commission on sliding scale on all winning bids over $20.00. Any items sold for less than $20.00 are considered a donation to the Chapter. If you have any questions, please ask me and I will get an answer for you.
At noon we will start off with a potluck lunch with fried chicken and soft drinks provided by the Chapter. After lunch we will conduct the business meeting, followed by the raffle drawings for the door prizes and the 50/50 drawing plus the announcement of the winners of the silent auction.

Well folks, here we go, the beginning of the 2010 season. This may be “The” season for us to showcase IH products in the Northwest. It all starts at your annual meeting on March 20, 2010. This is the time to come and find out about chapter plans and happenings, visit old friends and make new ones and to learn from others. It also is a great opportunity for you to get involved in so many ways!
I am just finishing my stint as a Director and as Director In Charge and it has been a great time. We would love to have you join in at whatever level you would like to… whether it be at your local show, our marquees event at Brooks or behind the scenes. Start planning to have your IH piece at Brooks or at one of the other shows this season. We would love to see you and “It”!
Jack Bailey,
Director/Director In Charge

Hello! Hope that winter has been good to you and you have gotten a lot of work done on all your “winter projects”! Brad’s been busy out in the tractor shop working on cleaning up one of my “Christmas” gifts…a special little Cub Cadet. I’m sure you’ll see it at some of the shows this summer!
This will be my last newsletter as editor. It’s just time for a break! I’ve enjoyed doing it over the past few years, but I have other projects to enjoy right now. Bob Bennett will be taking over for me and your next quarterly newsletter will be coming from Poulsbo, WA. Stay tuned for some great new things!
I want to take this time to thank Needra Severance for being my “right hand lady”! She helped me each time with getting the newsletter printed, helping me fold, staple and stamp each edition. THANK YOU NEEDRA!! I couldn’t have done it without you!!!
Can’t wait to see you all at the March 20th Annual meeting and I’m totally excited about the upcoming summer tractor season!!! See you under the IH Tent!

From the Women’s Corner
As always, the seasons are slipping away faster then they were the year before it seems! It’s supposed to be winter, but on the west coast it’s been so mild that I’m not sure! Looking out the window I see brilliant blue cloudless skies, and it looks as if it should be May out there! We’ll see what March brings! The one March event you don’t want to miss is the Chapter 30 Annual Meeting! Peggy Crisp has agreed to do another cake decorating class for any women who would like to join in! This class will be before the potluck & meeting. We should start at approximately 10 a.m. If you didn’t join in last year you really missed out! We had a lot of fun and laughs too! This year Peggy is going to show us how to decorate an Easter Bunny Cake, so you’ll be ready for the holiday! The class will cost $8.00. Peggy will supply the icing, colors, parchment paper, practice board, jelly beans & bunny faces and paws. After were done with the bunny cakes, she’ll teach us other flowers and cake decorating designs. This will be so much fun, so don’t miss out!!!
If you don’t have the following or don’t want to go out and buy them, Peggy will have the supplies there in a kit that you can purchase from her for $15.00.
Here’s what you’ll need to bring:
1 – 8” single layer round cake 1 lb. of shredded coconut
2 small kitchen towels 5 teaspoons for mixing icing colors
6 small containers (approx. pint size) 1- 2 qt. bowl
Plate for cake
Tube tips for decorating:
2 - #3’s 1 – 10 or 12” pastry bag with coupler
2 - #16’s 1 Metal spatula w/ 6-6 1/2” blade
2 - #104’s 1 pair children’s pointed scissors
1 - #47
1 - #2C
1 - #7 rose nail
* Here’s a picture of the bunny Peggy’s made
to donate for the raffle (she’s dressed in
IH tractor material)! I’m sure more of us
can also come up with something for the
raffle or door prizes! All money goes towards
the Chapter projects, so let’s all chip in! I know
we have some VERY Talented ladies out there!
